Omaha Dist. UMM. meeting held at Omaha Trinity UMC. on 7-28-05

Present were Dave Mendyk, Ted Black, Harlan Duckuitz,Richard
Townsend, Terry Polsley,Tim,Williams, and Bill Stambaugh.
After Prayer, those who attended the Purdue Gathering shared about
the experiance and the workshops.
Tim shared that Christians have gathered at Fontenelle Park the last
four Saturdays at 8;30 to pray for an end to violence in Omaha.
He also shared about recent Promise-Keepers events.
Tim shared about a foot-washing Worship Service with the men of
Trinity Non-Denominational Church in West Omaha who had invited him to
speak there. He spoke of the Fresh Annointing Church at 24th and
Templeton where a woman Pastor who grew up at Claire UMC. is doing good
work. Tim said he started a small group of younger men that has created
a deeper bond.
Terry and Rich reported the men at Trinity UMC. meet on Tues.
afternoon. every other week is Bible study. First Saturdays they visit
the men of St. John's AME. They shared that good follow-up and 6 Month
planning are helpful.
Harlan spoke of the loss of membership due to white flight because
of a changing neighborhood. He also was glad of some present mix of
races at Trinty UMC. and the gift of Afro-American Spiritual music.
Bill spoke of the Mission work done so far at Union Memorial UMC. an
at Camp Fontanelle.
We were invited to help side Trent Meyers house at the Camp on Saturday,
July 30.
August 26-28 a large crew of teams will replace the deck of the Lodge at
the Camp.
Saturday Sept. 10th will be a work day to prepare the Camp for the
Annual BBQ on Sept.18.
Omaha Dist. will be host to the Mid-Winter Retreat of United
Methodist Men at Camp Fontenelle in February.
Leaders will explore the chance of uniting the men of
Trinity,Pearl,Asbury,Union,Claire UMC.s as a larger group. Could be a
large Monthly meeting of each small group. May need a good pot-luck for
a kick-off.
Omaha District could have it's own Men's Retreat or Event.
Testimonies and Gifts abound.
